That 70's Souvenir

Just my opinion, but the Mickey Mouse back scratcher was the Walt Disney World souvenir from the 1970s. In these days of big figs, pin trading, and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques, sometimes it's nice to remember the simpler times.

This and a postcard of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea were the two items I recall bringing back from my first Walt Disney World visit in 1973.

Jeff,

WOW!! You dug up one of my mos treasured and sentimental souvenirs from my early trips to WDW. Having been there on our yearly pilgrimages since the age of 3 (in Nov. 71), my parents bought me this in the mid 70's I still have it, and it holds a very special place in my home collection. Nice to see that I'm not the only one who not only remembers these, but kept it for 30+ years.

Thanks for bringing back some good memories for me today!!

Had one of these too - but alas it is long gone. Got a chuckle out of seeing a pic of it here!

I too have one of these Disney backscratchers. My parents took us as young teens when the park opened in September of 1971. They bought this same souvenir during that first trip. We stayed in the futuristic hotel, rode the monorail and thought that we were seeing the future.

Mine still has the string that it hangs from.

I remember going to the theme park and using a coupon booklet to actual ride on the rides. Does anyone remember that or have a coupon book from the '70s?
